old friends

Meeting up with old friend is usually more fun than can ever be imagined. Make a conscious effort to keep up with people and make genuine contact with them often. You don't want to be the guy that only comes around when he needs something.

When was the last time you said "hello" to your college band director, high school math teacher, coworker across the hall or friend in the room next door? Let them know they are valuable and remind them of the influence they have on others. Friends play a special role in each person's life. While you have hundreds if not thousands of acquaintances, only a friend can get away with setting the record straight and can get in your face about fixing yourself when things don't go right. Sure it hurts for a little bit, but its for the better. Right? Let them help you -- and you help them.

So stop reading and go write a note to your friend...that's what I'm doing!

my passion.

I love working with others to solve their wants, needs and problems. I
love providing solutions to those needs. Sometimes, a client is so
put-off by the treatment they have received from someone else that they
fail to see how genuinely I want to help them. This is where my passion
meets my anti-passion. Then, for a moment, I see a glimmer of hope in
the eyes of the client -- no...my client -- or I hear the distant tone
of their hurts in their voice and it provides another boost of desire
to create a resolution to their problem.

Let the passion of your heart be ignited by any glimmer of hope or
voice of pain and allow yourself to reach out and help others.

What equals 100%

What does it mean to give MORE than 100%?  Ever wonder about those people who say they are giving more than 100%?  We have all been in situations where someone wants you to give over 100%.  How about achieving 101%? What equals 100% in life? Here's a little mathematical formula that might help you answer these questions:

If A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z is represented as 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 then:

 

H-A-R-D-W-O-R-K = 97% (8+1+18+4+23+15+18+11)

K-N-O-W-L-E-D-G-E = 96% (11+14+15+23+12+5+4+7+5)

A-T-T-I-T-U-D-E = 100% (1+20+20+9+20+21+4+5)

 

But look how far the love of God will take you

 

L-O-V-E- O-F -G-O-D = 101% (12+15+22+5+15+6+7+15+4)

 

So we can conclude with mathematical certainty that: While hard work and knowledge will get you close, and attitude will get you there, it's the "Love of God" that will put you over the top!

May those who help the most win

In the year of Google's 10th anniversary, they've introduced a program called Project 10100 where Google encourages people to get outside and help others, instead of just sticking to their own needs. Submissions for the contest sid eof things close on October 20th, and voting will be open on January 27th, where the grand prize of $10 million will be awarded to the project that seems most likely to succeed and help the most people.  See the homepage for details.

Everybody makes a difference everyday.  The question is what kind of difference.  As you travel through each day, what are you doing to enrich the lives of others?  What are you doing to show you care, to show respect, or to show your passion?  I own a copy of Mark Sanborn's book, "The Fred Factor" and recommend it as required reading for life.  One of the great tips in Sanborn's book is to "practice random acts of kindness -- everyday."  What can you do-great or small-to show kindness to someone else today?
