November 24

In an effort to keep connections to people in my past alive, I was presented with an opportunity to visit my Alma Mater for the last football game of the season.  Of course, being the last game represents change for the athletes, but also for others, as well.  My band director from the University of Tulsa, Kenneth G Grass, is celebrating his career at TU, andhanding the reigns of the University Marching Band to the now Assistant Band Director, SSgt Tad Clark.

Again, I was able to meet up with classmates, friends, co-workers and mentors after the game, and rekindled friendships with those that I had lost contact with.  I never get tired of meeting up with old friends.

Have a fabulous day and Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

old friends

November 14

Meeting up with old friend is usually more fun than can ever be imagined. Make a conscious effort to keep up with people and make genuine contact with them often. You don't want to be the guy that only comes around when he needs something.

When was the last time you said "hello" to your college band director, high school math teacher, coworker across the hall or friend in the room next door? Let them know they are valuable and remind them of the influence they have on others. Friends play a special role in each person's life. While you have hundreds if not thousands of acquaintances, only a friend can get away with setting the record straight and can get in your face about fixing yourself when things don't go right. Sure it hurts for a little bit, but its for the better. Right? Let them help you -- and you help them.

So stop reading and go write a note to your friend...that's what I'm doing!

Everybody makes a difference everyday.  The question is what kind of difference.  As you travel through each day, what are you doing to enrich the lives of others?  What are you doing to show you care, to show respect, or to show your passion?  I own a copy of Mark Sanborn's book, "The Fred Factor" and recommend it as required reading for life.  One of the great tips in Sanborn's book is to "practice random acts of kindness -- everyday."  What can you do-great or small-to show kindness to someone else today?

I'm back!

October 13

Thank you for joining me today, my blog has been down for awhile as I worked on some other areas of my business.  Look forward to hearing from me as I make my own journey, and check back to see where things are at--maybe something here can help you, too.
