So, what’s a Okla­homa storm spot­ter to do in the off sea­son?  Track hurricanes!

I’m tak­ing up hur­ri­cane mon­i­tor­ing these days and learn­ing a lot about the pre­dic­tion mod­els and meth­ods of deter­min­ing the prob­a­ble path of a storm.  Pay­ing atten­tion to how storms form when tor­na­does loom over­head is help­ful in pre­dict­ing how storms will move while at sea.  Two dif­fer­ent ball games? Yes. How­ever, there are sev­eral similarities.

Know if I could fig­ure out how to make the com­put­ers hurricane-proof, I’d be a rich man.  Someday…
